What sport are the Vietnamese going to watch most at the 2018 Winter Olympics? How about figure skating? This kid is just 10 years old but he's amazing and will be Canada's future in men's figure skating. Watch out, Patrick Chan! Read more about Nam on my blog post at: http://digitalcitizen.ca/2010/02/27/nam-nguyen-is-why-the-vietnamese-will-be-watching-mens-figure-skating-at-2018-winter-olympics/
Too cute! I wanna get a kid to sing this to him/her! Andrea Bocelli sings Elmo to sleep. Extracted from Sesame Street Season 36, episode 4087.
Very beautiful and touching. Way to be, Joannie! Read more interview comments on my blog at: http://digitalcitizen.ca/2010/02/26/joannie-rochette-wins-figure-skating-olympics-bronze-medal-in-inspirational-skate/
The best song I've ever heard about Viet Nam, with a touching video and superb audio quality. Quynh Anh sings this song that moves so many Vietnamese, speaking for a generation of Vietnamese first generation immigrants born in a land other than the home of their Parents who immigrated to seek a better future. Lyrics and more on the song (and its French original) can be found at my blog post on it http://digitalcitizen.ca/2010/02/15/hello-viet-nam-%E2%80%94-the-best-song-about-viet-nam-ever/
This was the performance that got Joannie the bronze medal. This is the live from the audience view version, without commentary, just the intimate sounds of unanimous crowd support. Just beautiful and inspiring! Many thanks to the uploader! See my blog post about it at: http://digitalcitizen.ca/2010/02/26/joannie-rochette-wins-figure-skating-olympics-bronze-medal-in-inspirational-skate/
I had this linked to a YouTube version before but YouTube took it down, so I went and found it at another place. Definitely worth the effort to have in my collection.
This is a true story and the victim and singer is Dave Carroll, one of my past songwriting teachers.
From Oklahoma! Before doing X-Men and Van Helsing, Hugh Jackman sang musicals in London's West End. Too talented!
Finally, someone put this on YouTube! One of the best moments the 2010 Winter Olympics had to offer. Not quite TV coverage for quality but darn good quality for someone who sneaked in a video camera. However, the lack of commentary to let you be in the moment is better than TV. Thanks for posting! See my blog post of this event at: http://digitalcitizen.ca/2010/02/24/joannie-rochette-delivers-best-moment-of-olympics-thus-far/
Diversity Dance Troupe won it all, folks, with an original routine unlike so many others who regurgitated their audition performance! Very nice and congrats, but my heart is still with Hollie Steel. :-)
In this TED archive video from 1998, paralympic sprinter Aimee Mullins talks about her record-setting career as a runner, and about the amazing carbon-fiber prosthetic legs (then a prototype) that helped her cross the finish line. A record-breaker at the Paralympic Games in 1996, Aimee Mullins has built a career as a model, actor and activist for women, sports and the next generation of prosthetics. Inspiring with some absolutely hilarious moments at the same time.
On January 27 1984, Michael Jackson filmed a Pepsi commercial at LA's Shrine Auditorium in front of 3,000 fans. On the first take, the pyrotechnics exploded as planned after Michael descended the stairs. The sixth take went horribly wrong. The explosion went off too early. Michael suffered second and third-degree burns on his face and scalp.
Great choral music from the Monster Moves series. A historic 15F steam locomotive travelled 7,000kms on rails, in a ship and on truck from the South African town of Bloemfontein to Glasgow in Scotland over 40 days and nights to display at Glasgow's Transport Museum. This song tells the story of its journey. The excerpt is from the forthcoming Five series 'Monster Moves' airing in Spring 2008.
This is the kids' response to the previous video in my collection, the Mom Song. It is done by Vanessa van Petten. The lyrics are great. The singing, NOT! Fore more, see http://digitalcitizen.ca/2009/12/27/video-of-the-mom-song-with-lyrics/

This is a real song from the 2003 musical of the year, Avenue Q. It's just a Sesame Street video parody. The audio is exactly as it is in the musical.
You won't hear this song often any time a sampling from the musical Wicked is given, but it is fabulous! Only second to For Good.
A dashing young lad with a lot of smooth dance moves. Love the talent!
William Shatner gives you the real deal on William Shatner, not what everyone associates with him. Done at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, this is a riot!
This is a real spoof combining my two favourite musicals, Wicked and Avenue Q. Kate (Julie Atherton) and Trekkie Monster (?) cameo as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, in the song Popular. Fantastic!
